Consultants > Norm BangerterNorman H. Bangerter served as Governor of the State of Utah from 1985 to 1993. Since his return to private business he is available to advise clients on a broad range of government-related issues.Governor Bangerter was known as a common-sense leader with the courage to tackle tough issues and make difficult decisions. He was Utah’s first Republican governor in 20 years. His reelection in 1988, in the midst of a tax revolt, was one of the great political election comebacks in Utah history, in which he was challenged by major candidates from two other parties. His focus was education, economic development, government efficiency and the environment. The Governor successfully maneuvered the state through several challenges including the rising level of the Great Salt Lake following several years of heavy rainfall, the collapse of the savings-and-loan institutions, a regional recession of 1986-87 that resulted in a plunge in mining and construction jobs, and an anti-government and anti-tax movement. He served in the House of Representatives from 1975 to 1985, where he was the first Speaker of the House to serve two consecutive terms in more than 40 years. In 1993 the Governor returned to the construction company he founded at the age of 30. He specializes in homebuilding and residential real estate development. Norman H. Bangerter The Exoro Group LC |
