The company offers a full line of research services, including telephone surveys, focus groups, video dial tests and specialty group research. The firm has its own specialized software to display survey findings in the most concise, easy to understand manner possible. Gary C. Lawrence, founder, has been a survey researcher since 1968. Dr. Lawrence has conducted more than 2500 surveys and focus-group projects throughout the nation. In an average year he moderates 80 to 100 focus groups. He handles all creative tasks personally. These include research design, questionnaire development, analysis, and translating the findings into action steps to accomplish the client’s objectives. Interviewing is conducted by Western Wats Center in Utah, a five-state, 450-phone firm co-founded by Dr. Lawrence. Dr. Lawrence has a Ph.D. in Communication from Stanford University, 1972. He has a B.A., cum laude, in Political Science from Brigham Young University, 1967. Dr. Lawrence’s doctoral program at Stanford was built around attitudes how they are formed, how they are measured and how they can be changed. It included analytical methods, quasi-experimental research designs, attitude theories, scaling, computer modeling, sampling and questionnaire construction.
